Sonnet #1: Coffee

The morning would be harsh without it,

Oh wonder of the modern world

Come save me from the bottomless pit

The decaffeinated underworld

Energise my frame just keep it moving

Alert my senses, hold my eyelids

No sleep no rest there’s no improving

My dreary state but it forbids

To let my tired body be beat

By the day the tasks ahead

Living with it is no mean feat

But without it a day I dread

So appreciate the caffeine high

Without my coffee I just might die.
